On the early morning of May 31, 2025, the life of 35-year-old Tiffany Nashae Corbett was tragically cut short in Suffolk, Virginia. Responding to reports of gunfire around 1:35 a.m. in the 5600 block of Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk Police officers arrived to find a harrowing scene. Tiffany was discovered deceased at the location, a victim of gun violence.
Two other individuals were also found to have sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to the identification of a suspect, 35-year-old Derrick Dontre Corbett of Portsmouth. Later that same day, he was located and taken into custody by the Suffolk Police Department. He is facing a multitude of serious charges in connection with the incident, including one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and multiple firearm-related offenses. Specifically, the charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, six counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and three counts of maliciously shooting, stabbing, cutting, or wounding.
Known as a beacon of light and strength to those who knew her, Tiffany was a devoted mother to five children. She worked as a Store Manager at a Dollar Tree on Main Street in Suffolk. Her death has left her family and community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a woman described as having a radiant spirit and a resilient heart. The investigation into her death remains ongoing.
