In the quiet community of Suffolk, Virginia, a tragic event unfolded on March 27, 2022, cutting short the life of 40-year-old Tameisha Goode Rogers of Chesapeake. That evening, a shooting in North Suffolk claimed her life and left a man, Reginald Ashmead Thorne, III, injured but in stable condition. Rogers was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
The investigation that followed pointed to a late model, gold-colored Ford Taurus as the suspect vehicle.
Witnesses described the suspects as males wearing ski masks. The Suffolk Police Department quickly began to piece together the events of that night, leading to the identification of two suspects.
Within days of the shooting, on March 30, 2022, Suffolk Police arrested 23-year-old Phillip Jovan Etheridge of Suffolk. He faced a litany of charges, including second-degree murder, two counts of felonious assault, and multiple firearm-related offenses. The investigation continued, and soon after, authorities issued warrants for a second suspect, 23-year-old Jonathan Luis Jackson, also of Suffolk.
Jackson remained at large for several months until he was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on January 6, 2023. He was taken into custody without incident and awaited extradition back to Virginia. Jackson faced eight charges, including second-degree murder, use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and aggravated malicious wounding.
