In the early morning hours of June 4, 2018, the body of 23-year-old Kiara M. Etheridge was discovered in the middle of Dill Road in Suffolk, Virginia. A subsequent investigation determined that the young mother had been fatally shot. For years, the case remained cold, leaving her family and the community searching for answers. Etheridge was remembered by her cousin as a loving mother to her young son, someone whose smile could light up a room.
The investigation into Kiara Etheridge's
death spanned several years. Finally, in April 2025, a breakthrough was announced by the Suffolk Commonwealth's Attorney. A grand jury handed down indictments against three individuals in connection with the 2018 homicide. Following the indictments, three suspects were taken into custody. Rashadeen Conner was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
