In the summer of 2013, a tragic event unfolded in Christiansburg, Virginia, ending the life of Derek Scott Roberson, a 35-year-old male. On the evening of August 16th, Roberson was found deceased at his home on Kays Drive from apparent gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred at approximately 6:19 p.m.
The investigation into Roberson's death quickly connected to another violent incident that same evening in the nearby town of Pulaski.
There, authorities discovered two other men deceased in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. The two men were identified as 45-year-old Barry T. Roberson, Derek's brother, and 69-year-old Clinton Leon Morris.
Law enforcement officials identified Clinton Leon Morris, the stepfather of the two brothers, as the suspect in Derek Roberson's shooting. It was concluded that after shooting Derek, Morris was involved in the subsequent incident in Pulaski that ended his own life and that of his other stepson, Barry. As Morris died on the same evening, no arrests were made in connection with Derek Scott Roberson's death. The motive for the tragic events was not made public.
