On a Sunday night in Norfolk, Virginia, the life of 38-year-old Maurice Lamont Mitchell was cut short. On September 15, 2013, the sound of gunshots pierced the evening air on West 29th Street. Police responded to calls around 10:30 p.m. and discovered a man suffering from a gunshot injury inside a home.
