In the early morning hours of October 12, 2013, a homecoming after-party for Hampton University alumni at the Magnuson Hotel on Omni Boulevard in Newport News, Virginia, turned tragic. Victor Rasheem Russell, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot in the chest in the hotel's parking lot.
