Dr. Ronald Franklin Kirby, a prominent transportation planner, was found dead in his Alexandria, Virginia home on November 11, 2013. He was 69 years old. Dr. Kirby was discovered by his son, who arrived for lunch and found his father lying on the foyer floor, fatally wounded from multiple gunshots. The paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
