Julian F. Arnold, a 39-year-old police officer from Alexandria, Virginia, tragically lost his life on May 15, 1887. Arnold, who had served with the Alexandria Police Department for 17 years, was on duty with his partner, Officer Joseph Martin, when they overheard two men planning to rob a saloon on King Street.
