In the early morning hours of September 22, 2014, the city of Suffolk, Virginia, was rocked by the violent death of a beloved and well-respected community figure. Donald E. Carter Sr., an 82-year-old male, was discovered unresponsive outside his business, Carter's Quality Furniture, on East Washington Street.
