In the early hours of a Monday morning in Suffolk, Virginia, events unfolded that would tragically end the life of 19-year-old Jaquan Meleek Saunders. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 12:02 a.m. on August 22, 2022, Suffolk Police arrived at the 800 block of West Washington Street to find Saunders, a Black male, with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
