In the summer of 2019, a series of violent events unfolded in Suffolk, Virginia, leaving two men dead and three others, including a toddler, wounded. The life of 22-year-old Aaron Tyrone Porter of Suffolk came to an end on Friday, August 2, 2019, amidst this burst of gunfire that spanned two city blocks. His body was discovered on First Avenue, having sustained a single gunshot wound.
The initial investigation by the Suffolk Police pointed to the incident being primarily domestic in
nature. The chaotic scene began earlier that evening on North Broad Street. In a parked vehicle, 24-year-old Davante Wilson was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. Also in the vehicle were Lamekka Porter, age 26, and a nearly three-year-old girl, both of whom suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Authorities reported that Aaron Porter's vehicle was parked behind this car at the time of the shooting.
As the investigation progressed, law enforcement identified Aaron Porter as the suspect in the North Broad Street shooting. Another victim, 19-year-old Leronta Daveon Horton, was shot and wounded in the nearby area of Second Avenue and Bute Street. Horton provided a description of his assailant that matched Aaron Porter. Following the string of shootings, Porter was found deceased a block away. The medical examiner was tasked with performing autopsies to confirm the causes of death for both Porter and Wilson. No other suspects were publicly identified in connection with Porter's death.
