In the predawn hours of May 21, 2019, the calm of a Suffolk, Virginia neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunfire. When police arrived at the Remington Park neighborhood, they discovered the body of 20-year-old Gregory Isaiah Goodman, a Black male from Newport News. He was found in a parking lot on Gentry Street, having been shot multiple times.
The initial investigation into the death of Gregory Isaiah Goodman was met with few immediate answers.
His body was located near a Honda Accord that had been ransacked, though robbery was not considered a primary motive as he still had property on his person. Neighbors recalled hearing about six gunshots around 4:30 in the morning and reported seeing a man fleeing the scene in a silver van. They theorized that the killing may have been a 'passionate crime,' suggesting the perpetrator was possibly an acquaintance of the victim.
