On a tragic night in Richmond, Virginia, a house party turned into a scene of violence, claiming the life of 24-year-old Elijah D. Gee. The Black / African American male was fatally shot on October 19, 2014, during a gathering on Westover Hills Boulevard. An argument that erupted at the party escalated, leading to a triple shooting that also resulted in the death of 18-year-old Antonio M.
Sherman of Lynchburg and injured a 19-year-old woman, who survived.
When Richmond Police arrived at the scene, they discovered Elijah Gee deceased on the front steps of the apartment building where the party was being held. The investigation that followed pointed to a chaotic confrontation, with shell casings found on an interior staircase. Detectives pursued several leads, which led to the arrests of two men in connection with the double homicide.
On October 31, 2014, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended 26-year-old Dajon Johnson of Henrico. He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Another suspect, 21-year-old Rashard S. Cutler of Richmond, had been arrested earlier that same week and also faced a charge of conspiracy to commit murder for his alleged role in the incident.
Subsequent legal proceedings provided a more detailed picture of the events of that night. During the trial of Rashard S. Cutler, it was revealed that police found Elijah Gee lying face down on the front steps of the apartment building. Evidence presented during the trial suggested a complex series of events involving multiple firearms. The investigation indicated that the altercation began inside the apartment before spilling outside, where Elijah Gee was ultimately killed.
