'Ron' Holder, a 48-year-old White / Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Richmond, Virginia. A dedicated manager at the Dollar General on Walmsley Boulevard, Holder was a familiar and pleasant figure to those who frequented the store. His death, which marked the city's 50th homicide of the year, left the community in shock.
On that Friday morning, Holder had arrived at his workplace, entered
the store to gather the overnight cash deposits, and placed them into a gray and black soft-sided cooler. Shortly after returning to his vehicle, an unknown individual was captured on surveillance footage firing multiple shots at him as he sat in the driver's seat. The assailant initially fled but then returned to open the door of Holder's car. When Richmond police officers responded to a call about an injured person around 8:05 AM, they found Holder deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The cooler containing the cash deposits was missing from the scene.
Despite the shocking nature of the crime and the availability of surveillance footage, the investigation into Ronald Holder's murder has faced significant challenges. Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or a detailed description of the person responsible. The case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. In an effort to bring justice to Holder and his family, the FBI Richmond Division's Central Virginia Violent Crimes Task Force became involved in the investigation.
