On the evening of October 4, 2024, a shooting in the 3600 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike in Henrico County, Virginia, resulted in the death of 44-year-old Darnell Lee Porter. Porter, a male resident of Henrico, was one of two men found with life-threatening gunshot wounds at the scene. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Porter later succumbed to his injuries.
The second victim was reported to be in critical condition.
The Henrico County Police quickly began an investigation, which was classified as a homicide following Porter's death. Affectionately known as 'MD,' Darnell Lee Porter was remembered for his lovable personality and his devotion to family and friends. He had a passion for art, painting, and designing clothes and was known for his kindness and willingness to help others. He is survived by his son, mother, sister, and other family members.
On October 17, 2024, Henrico Police identified a suspect in the homicide investigation. Rudy Devon Fuller, a 34-year-old from Richmond, was identified as the individual wanted in connection with the shooting. Authorities issued warrants for Fuller's arrest on charges of second-degree murder, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Law enforcement officials stated that Fuller should be considered armed and dangerous and requested public assistance in locating him.
