Bennie Wesley Sigmon, a 48-year-old male, was fatally shot in the driveway of his Danville, Virginia, home on June 4, 2015. The incident occurred when Sigmon went outside to confront a group of individuals who were on his property. He was shot multiple times and later died from his injuries at a local hospital. The investigation into his death led to the identification and arrest of four suspects.
Authorities charged Maurice Williams, Jr., Evin Shaw, Jibri Pettus, and Kadarius Ferrell in
connection with the shooting. The investigation revealed that the men were also involved in a robbery at another residence on the same street around the time of the shooting. The legal proceedings that followed saw convictions and sentencing for the accused. Evin Shaw was found guilty on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, and was sentenced to 78 years in prison.
Another suspect, Maurice Williams, Jr., pleaded guilty to several charges, including second-degree murder, two counts of breaking and entering, grand larceny, and petit larceny. Jibri Pettus was also arrested and faced charges of first-degree murder, statutory burglary, conspiracy to commit statutory burglary, and petit larceny. Kadarius Ferrell was the fourth individual charged in relation to the incident that led to Bennie Sigmon's death.
