John's Westshore Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. The incident was reported by her husband, Ronald Svec, who claimed he had shot her.
Ronald Svec, aged 74 at the time, was later arrested and charged with the murder of his wife. He was found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault, each with a firearms specification. In June 2018, Ronald Svec was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for the killing of Gloria Svec.
