In the early evening of November 10, 2015, the sound of gunfire shattered the relative quiet of the Century Plaza Apartments in Hampton, Virginia. When police responded to the scene at approximately 6:52 p.m., they discovered the body of 21-year-old Steven Harris, a Black male, lying in the parking lot. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, shoulder, and head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witness accounts, Harris was in the parking lot when he was
approached by three Black male suspects. At least one of the individuals opened fire, striking Harris multiple times before all three fled the area on foot, reportedly making their way toward a gray Toyota Camry.
The Hampton Police Division opened a homicide investigation into the shooting. Despite their ongoing efforts and public appeals for information, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Steven Harris. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released, and the individuals responsible for his death remain at large. The case is still considered active as authorities continue to seek information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
