In the crisp autumn air of a Norfolk, Virginia evening, a seemingly minor traffic incident quickly spiraled into a fatal encounter for Isaac Gervasio. On November 13, 2015, the 38-year-old male was with a neighbor at a 7-Eleven on the corner of Sewells Point and Denver Avenue when his car was side-swiped. The other driver attempted to flee the scene, but Gervasio pursued and confronted the individual.
What began as a verbal dispute over the collision took a dark and violent turn.
The suspect, described as a young, tall Black male in his twenties, went to the rear of his white, silver, or gray two-door vehicle and retrieved a firearm. Without warning, he shot Isaac Gervasio in the head. First responders arrived to find Gervasio lying in the street in the 4700 block of Denver Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m.. He was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.. The following day, November 14, 2015, Isaac Gervasio succumbed to his injuries, and the case was classified as a homicide.. At the time of his death, Gervasio was a father to three sons, ages 15, 14, and 12.
Despite an eyewitness account from the neighbor who was with Gervasio, the investigation into his murder has been fraught with challenges and has since stalled.. The description of the suspect and his vehicle has not led to any arrests, and no definitive suspects have been publicly identified. The Gervasio family has expressed their own suspicions about the neighbor who witnessed the shooting, though no evidence has emerged to substantiate their concerns.. In the months following the murder, reports surfaced that members of the Nine Trey Gang had confessed to a series of violent crimes in the area around the same time.. However, no concrete evidence has ever officially linked these confessions to the killing of Isaac Gervasio, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss..
