Eric Burwell, a 29-year-old male whose race and ethnicity were not specified in public records, was found gravely wounded in the early morning hours of September 4, 2011, near 35th Drive and Marshall Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix police were dispatched around 5 a.m. on a report of an injured person in the residential area just north of Camelback Road; when officers reached the scene, they discovered that Burwell had suffered multiple stab wounds and required urgent medical attention.
