In the early evening of December 15, 2015, the life of 28-year-old Rohan Young was tragically cut short in Norfolk, Virginia. Born in Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica, on August 30, 1987, Young was a resident of the Hampton Roads area. That Tuesday, shortly after 4:30 p.m., Norfolk dispatchers received calls reporting the sound of several gunshots in the vicinity of Grimes Avenue and North Lakeland Drive.
Upon their arrival at the 6300 block of Grimes Avenue, police officers discovered
Rohan Young lying in the roadway, suffering from what was determined to be a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement had not identified a suspect and did not release a description of any potential perpetrator.
