In the early hours of a summer night in Norfolk, Virginia, tragedy struck a 17-year-old male named Don Demetrius Brown Jr., who was of Black/African American descent. On June 21, 2016, just after midnight, the sound of gunshots pierced the air in the 400 block of North Military Highway. When police arrived, they discovered a chaotic scene with two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of those was Brown Jr., who was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
