In the cold of a February afternoon in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 24-year-old Donyell Patillo was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On Monday, February 13, 2017, Patillo was found shot to death behind a building in the 1900 block of Raven Street. His sudden passing left a void in the lives of his family, including his young daughter.

The investigation into the shooting led Richmond police to a suspect, 32-year-old Keon L. McDonald. He was taken into custody and initially charged ...
