On April 30, 2019, Reginald K. Addo, a 40-year-old Black male, was tragically killed in his home on Chateau Drive in South Richmond, Virginia. The incident unfolded as a robbery, during which Mr. Addo sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Despite immediate efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital. At the time of his death, Mr.
Addo was not only a father of three and a grandfather of one, but also the primary caregiver for his mother, who was recovering from heart surgery.
The investigation into the homicide led Richmond Police to identify two brothers as the primary suspects: 18-year-old Timon A. Ward and 19-year-old Timothy A. Ward. Thanks to tips from the public, law enforcement was able to locate the suspects. Timon A. Ward was apprehended in Chesterfield County. Shortly after, his brother, Timothy A. Ward, turned himself in to the police.
Both brothers were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit robbery for their alleged involvement in the death of Reginald Addo. The arrests brought a measure of progress to a case that had deeply affected Mr. Addo's family and the wider Richmond community.
