In a tragic and senseless act of violence, David Bauer Tuttle, a 70-year-old male, was killed on November 30, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. Remembered by his family as a 'renaissance man, artist, and master craftsman,' Tuttle was a creative and kind soul with a remarkable sense of humor. A native of Atlanta, he was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend within the Ansley Park and South Atlanta communities.
The fatal incident occurred around 6:40 p.m.
in the 2100 block of Metropolitan Parkway SW, outside a liquor store. Tuttle was the victim of a carjacking when an assailant shot him in the neck. After the shooting, the attacker fled the scene in Tuttle's 2004 black Toyota Highlander. Emergency services responded and transported Tuttle to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Atlanta Police Department acted swiftly in their investigation, leading to the prompt identification and arrest of a suspect. Jaylen Mosley, 19, was taken into custody and has been charged with murder, armed robbery, first-degree hijacking of a vehicle, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. In a surprising turn of events, Mosley's own father, Jarvis Mosley, brought him back to the scene of the crime where he was arrested by homicide detectives. It was also discovered that Jaylen Mosley was wanted on a felony criminal mischief charge in Harris County, Texas.
The Tuttle family, while devastated by their loss, expressed their gratitude for the quick apprehension of the suspect and are cooperating with authorities to ensure justice is served. Jaylen Mosley waived his first court appearance and remains in the Fulton County jail.
