On a Sunday night in Atlanta, Georgia, a house party on Landrum Drive took a tragic turn, ending the life of 27-year-old Tyriq Cornell Livatt, an African American male. The gathering, which took place on March 31, 2019, devolved into violence when a man opened fire, striking five people around 11:00 p.m. Livatt succumbed to his injuries from the shooting.
Four other males, ranging in age from 17 to 20, were also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at Grady Hospital.
The incident that led to the fatal shooting reportedly began with a fight between two large groups at the apartment complex an hour prior to the gunfire. The altercation escalated, culminating in at least one person producing a handgun and firing multiple rounds. When Atlanta police officers arrived at the Hidden Village apartments, they discovered Livatt deceased in the parking lot. Shortly after, police in the neighboring city of East Point were notified that three of the gunshot victims had driven to a gas station on Camp Creek Parkway seeking help.
The investigation into Tyriq Livatt's death continued for years. In January 2026, the Atlanta Police Department publicly identified Ashton Reed, then 28 years old, as the suspect wanted for Livatt's murder. Authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest and consider him to be armed and dangerous. A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered for information leading to Reed's arrest and indictment. Despite the ongoing search, the suspect remains at large.
