In the quiet morning hours of July 6, 2021, a grim discovery was made in an alley in the 1100 block of North 34th Street in Richmond, Virginia. Responding to a call at approximately 9:05 a.m., Richmond Police officers found 50-year-old Kenneth 'Kenny' Tyler unresponsive. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Tyler was a Black/African American male.
The investigation into the death of Kenneth Tyler was quickly classified as a homicide.
The Richmond Police Department's Major Crimes detectives began the arduous task of piecing together the circumstances that led to his death. The official cause of death was to be determined by the Medical Examiner.
