In the spring of 2017, the life of 18-year-old Dedric Shyheim Megginson was cut short in Lynchburg, Virginia. On the evening of May 15th, police responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 800 block of Dearing Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered two young men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both Megginson and another 18-year-old, Darrell Jermaine Saunders Jr., were rushed to Lynchburg General Hospital. Megginson succumbed to his injuries the following day, May 16, ...
