On June 1, 2022, at approximately 11:48 p.m., officers from the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at an upstairs apartment located at 4540 Golf Park Drive in Lynchburg, Virginia. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Anthony Dewayne Colden II, originally from South Carolina, with a gunshot wound to the torso. Colden was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was immediately classified as a homicide, prompting a thorough investigation by the authorities.
