In a tragic and senseless act of violence, 19-year-old Micah 'Cash' Gaudio was fatally shot in the driveway of his Lynchburg, Virginia, home on September 30, 2024. The male teenager was a recent graduate of Liberty Christian Academy and was a freshman at Central Virginia Community College. He was known for his vibrant personality, his leadership qualities, and his active involvement in his church and community.
On that fateful Monday afternoon, Gaudio was in his vehicle when he was approached by a man holding a small child. Surveillance footage captured the subsequent confrontation, which ended with the man drawing a handgun and firing multiple shots into Gaudio's vehicle. Gaudio was struck multiple times and was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His mother recalled hearing the gunshots and her son's call to 911 before finding him in his car.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Nathaniel Lee Pridemore. Following the shooting, Pridemore fled the scene with the child. He was later apprehended by the Bedford County Sheriff's Office after being spotted walking along a roadway. At the time of his arrest, he was armed with a handgun. The child, who was unharmed, was Pridemore's three-year-old.
The investigation into Gaudio's death led authorities to conduct a welfare check at Pridemore's residence. There, they discovered the body of 36-year-old Christina Hamilton, the mother of the child Pridemore had with him. She had been fatally shot in the head. Pridemore is facing a string of charges for both murders, including two counts of aggravated murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felony child endangerment. He is currently being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, awaiting trial.
