In the early morning hours of July 5, 2018, the body of 55-year-old Allan Wright, a male resident of Danville, Virginia, was discovered lying in the yard of a home on Clement Avenue. Police were called to the 200 block of the street just after 7 a.m. and found Wright deceased at the scene. The subsequent investigation by the medical examiner would later determine that he had died from a gunshot wound.
His death was ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Danville Police Department.
A week after the discovery of Wright's body, an arrest was made in connection with his death. On July 12, 2018, authorities took 24-year-old Marshall Sylvan Silver Jr., also of Danville, into custody. Silver was subsequently charged with the murder of Allan Wright. In addition to the murder charge, he also faced firearms charges related to the incident.
Following his arrest, Marshall Sylvan Silver Jr. was held in the Danville City Jail without bond. At the time of his arrest, investigators stated that the investigation was ongoing and that additional charges were pending. They also indicated that they were not seeking any other suspects in connection with the murder.
