In the winter of 2018, a fatal shooting in Newport News, Virginia, claimed the life of 44-year-old Larry Hartwell Vick Jr. The incident unfolded in the early afternoon of December 22, at the intersection of 22nd Street and Oak Avenue. Emergency services received a call about the shooting at approximately 12:37 p.m. and, upon arrival, discovered Vick with a single gunshot wound to the upper left side of his torso.
