In the summer of 2019, the quiet of a wooded area in Woodbridge, Virginia was broken by a grim discovery. On the morning of June 22nd, a resident walking near Featherstone Road and Blackburn Road stumbled upon the bodies of two men, later identified as 39-year-old Jairo Geremeas Mayorga and 40-year-old Milton Beltran Lopez, both residents of Woodbridge. The Prince William County Police were called to the scene behind a local business, and it was quickly determined that both men, who were known to frequent the businesses in that area, had been fatally shot.
The investigation into the double homicide began immediately, with detectives from the Prince William County Police Department's Homicide Unit leading the effort, later assisted by the FBI. For months, the case remained under active investigation, with authorities reaching out to the community for any information that could lead to the person or persons responsible for the deaths of Mayorga and Lopez. The FBI and the Prince William County Police Department jointly offered a significant reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
A breakthrough came in November of that year. On November 22nd, investigators identified a suspect, 22-year-old Abner Jose Molina-Rodriguez of Catlett. He was already in custody in Fauquier County in connection with a separate investigation when he was linked to the Woodbridge murders. According to the investigation, Molina-Rodriguez had arranged to meet with Milton Beltran Lopez in the wooded area where the bodies were later found. Jairo Geremeas Mayorga was with Lopez at the time. An altercation ensued during this meeting, which resulted in both Mayorga and Lopez being shot and killed. Following this development, Abner Jose Molina-Rodriguez was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
