Forline was an Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS George H.W. Bush. He was married to Kimberly Forline and was the father of two children, Vincent and Sophia.
His death was one of four suicides among the crew of the aircraft carrier within a two-month period, which prompted an investigation involving Hampton Roads authorities and federal law
enforcement agents. Despite the cluster of deaths, Navy officials stated there appeared to be no connection between them, as the sailors worked in different departments. Forline's death did not occur on the naval vessel, which was undergoing repairs at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard at the time.
Born in Middletown, Connecticut, Forline was a graduate of Coginchaug High School in Durham. He enlisted in the Navy in late 2007 and had previously served on the USS Ronald Reagan and at naval air stations in California and Nevada before being assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush in November 2016. As his death was ruled a suicide, there were no suspects or arrests in connection with the case.
