On the night of October 24, 2019, in Newport News, Virginia, 47-year-old Janene Kellam, a Black female, was tragically killed in a violent home invasion. The incident occurred at a residence in the 1300 block of 24th Street, where police were dispatched at approximately 10:03 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Kellam suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
