On December 28, 2016, Quinaya Brown, a 24-year-old resident of Newport News, Virginia, was found dead in her home on the 1200 block of 21st Street. Police responded to the scene just after 7:30 a.m. and discovered Brown suffering from a gunshot wound on the lower level of the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the same incident, a 31-year-old man named Sean Ward was found upstairs with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The
