On January 8, 2020, Jimmy Darrelle Beverly, a 49-year-old resident of Hopewell, Virginia, was found with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound in the 100 block of Brooklawn Avenue. Emergency Medical Services arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, Beverly was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
