On the night of Friday, June 24, 2022, in Hopewell, Virginia, 18-year-old Jasir Culver was found deceased alongside 14-year-old Micah Coles. The two male teenagers were discovered lying on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Elm Street and Arlington Road. Both had sustained several gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene by Hopewell Fire and EMS after officers responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 10:27 p.m.
