Derrick Lamont Comer, 58, a Black man from Hopewell, was found just before sunrise on August 21, 2025, after officers were called to the 800 block of Chestnut Street for a report of a shooting. Responding police discovered Derrick Lamont Comer, 58, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; the 58-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
