On a Monday afternoon in Richmond, Virginia, the life of Surita M. Abdul-Majid, a 30-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On September 21, 2020, at approximately 2:52 p.m., police responded to a report of gunfire in the 3500 block of East Richmond Road. Inside a residence, they discovered Abdul-Majid suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner would later confirm the cause and manner of his death.
