Chae’Meshia A’Shanti Simms, a 30-year-old Black transgender woman, tragically lost her life on November 23, 2020, in Richmond, Virginia. Simms was found by police in a crashed vehicle on Cheatwood Avenue around 5:42 a.m. She had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred in the Washington Park neighborhood, where neighbors reported hearing gunshots around the time of the crash.
