In the early morning hours of July 16, 2021, the life of 20-year-old Karl McBride, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a shooting on Chapel Drive in Richmond, Virginia. At approximately 5:44 a.m., Richmond Police were called to the 3300 block of the street following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, officers discovered two men who had been shot.
Karl McBride was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.
The second victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The Richmond Police Department's Major Crimes unit launched a homicide investigation into the incident.
