In the early morning hours of January 6, 2016, the body of 36-year-old Djan R. Robinson was discovered lying in the 1000 block of Highland View Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. A passerby made the grim discovery at approximately 6:18 a.m. and immediately alerted the authorities. When police arrived, they found that Robinson had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An African-American male, Robinson’s death was quickly classified as a homicide, marking the second
confirmed killing in the city of Richmond that year. The Richmond Police Department's Major Crimes detectives launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible.
