In the early morning hours of October 29, 2010, the life of 36-year-old James Lamont Louis, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Richmond, Virginia. Just after 3 a.m., Richmond Police officers on foot patrol in the Mosby Court area heard the sound of gunshots. When they arrived at the 1900 block of Accommodation Street, they discovered Louis suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was immediately transported to VCU Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Known to his friends and family as "Caveman," James was a father to a son and a daughter. His passing was mourned by his devoted mother and stepfather, his brother, and a loving grandmother, along with a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives. His family had previously endured the loss of his cherished sister.
Detectives with the Richmond Police Department began an investigation into the shooting, working to identify witnesses and gather information. While robbery was being considered as a possible motive for the homicide, authorities did not release any information about a potential suspect or suspects in the immediate aftermath of the incident. The investigation into who was responsible for James L. Louis's death remains ongoing, and authorities have continued to ask for the public's help in solving the case.
