Davis was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

In a related event that same evening, a woman arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by car with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. After speaking with her, detectives were able to determine that her injuries were connected to the shooting that claimed Shakee Davis's life, which is also reported to have occurred in the 2300 block of E. Princess Anne Road. The Norfolk Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in their inquiries.
Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas to the public for assistance, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Shakee Davis. The case remains unresolved, leaving a void in the lives of his loved ones and the broader community. Shakee Davis was remembered by his family and friends as a loving individual. He left behind two daughters, Yohannes and Shaniya Davis, and a son, Shakee Davis Jr. Funeral services to honor his memory were held on September 15, 2021, at the Metropolitan Funeral Service in Norfolk, where those who knew him gathered to pay their final respects.
