In the winter of 2021, the life of a vibrant 35-year-old woman, Megan Banks, was tragically cut short in her Hampton, Virginia home. A lifelong resident of Hampton, Megan was known for her kind and caring spirit, often extending a helping hand to her family and friends. She was a graduate of Phoebus High School and had studied Criminal Justice at St. Paul's College.
Her professional life was dedicated to serving others, working in online customer service and as a home health care aide.
On the evening of December 1, 2021, an altercation broke out inside her residence on Chapel Street. The argument escalated, resulting in Megan being fatally shot. Her mother, Cheryl Banks, was present in the house at the time of the shooting. When Hampton Police responded to the incident, they found Megan had succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
