On June 25, 2023, 45-year-old Joi Kimitra Brown, a health and physical education teacher at Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia, was found deceased in her home on Wendell Drive. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
