In the early afternoon of a Tuesday in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 21-year-old Kavon Teon Gallishaw was tragically cut short. On January 18, 2022, at approximately 12:41 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle crash near the intersection of Glenway Drive and German School Road. Arriving at the scene, officers found Gallishaw as the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the young man's death soon revealed that the incident was not a random act of violence. Detectives determined that the shooting had actually occurred in the 6400 block of Jahnke Road. Following the shooting, Gallishaw's vehicle crashed, leading to the initial reports of a car accident. The case was quickly classified as a homicide, and the authorities began their search for those responsible for the untimely death of the Richmond native.
In the days following the shooting, the Richmond Police Department reached out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect vehicle. They released a description of an older model, tan or gold, four-door sedan with distinctive plastic coverings on the back window and the rear passenger side window. This vehicle was seen speeding away from the area, heading southbound on Jahnke Road, shortly after the incident occurred. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the homicide or the suspect vehicle to come forward and contact the Major Crimes unit or Crime Stoppers, assuring that all tips could be made anonymously. As of now, there have been no publicly announced arrests or identified suspects in the ongoing investigation into the death of Kavon Teon Gallishaw.
