On the night of March 31, 2022, a dispute in the parking lot of the Westside Village Apartments on Sinai Road in South Boston, Virginia, ended in the tragic death of 32-year-old Lamar Ballou. An African American male, Ballou was discovered by police officers responding to a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. lying near Building 9 of the complex, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
