On April 10, 2022, 17-year-old Samiyah Yellardy was tragically shot and killed in her home on Afton Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond Police officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Samiyah with a gunshot wound in the stairwell. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Samiyah, a student at George Wythe High School, was known for her bright spirit and uplifting nature.
